Lee Jae-wook Set to Begin Mandatory Military Service After Wrapping Upcoming Disney+ Drama

South Korean actor Lee Jae-wook, widely loved for his standout role in the hit fantasy romance drama “Alchemy of Souls,” is preparing to begin a new chapter in his life as he gets ready to fulfill his mandatory military duty.

According to reports from Korean media, the actor is scheduled to enlist on May 18, 2026, as an active-duty soldier. His agency, Log Studio, later confirmed the news, stating that Lee Jae-wook will officially begin his military service on that date.

The announcement has drawn emotional reactions from fans, especially those who have followed his steady rise from a promising model to one of South Korea’s most recognizable young actors. While fans are saddened by his temporary break from the screen, many have also expressed pride and support as he prepares to serve his country.

Before his enlistment, Lee Jae-wook has been busy working on his upcoming medical drama “Doctor on the Edge,” which is expected to premiere on Disney+ on June 1, 2026. The drama stars Lee Jae-wook alongside Shin Ye-eun and is directed by Lee Myung-woo.

In the series, Lee Jae-wook plays Do Ji-ui, a plastic surgery resident whose life takes an unexpected turn when he is assigned to a remote island for military service. There, he meets a mysterious nurse, Yuk Ha-ri, played by Shin Ye-eun, who becomes an important presence during his stay.

Lee Jae-wook began his entertainment career as a model before making his acting debut in 2018. Since then, he has built an impressive acting portfolio with roles in popular dramas such as “Memories of the Alhambra,” “Extraordinary You,” “Alchemy of Souls,” “The Impossible Heir,” and “Dear Hongrang.”

His strong screen presence, emotional acting style, and ability to portray complex characters have earned him a loyal international fanbase. Although his enlistment means fans will have to wait for his return, his upcoming drama gives viewers one more chance to see him on screen before his temporary break.

Lee Jae-wook’s military service marks an important milestone in his career and personal journey. Fans are now sending warm messages of encouragement, wishing him good health, strength, and a safe return.
