Netflix’s “Casher”: Lee Jun-ho Plays a Cashier Whose Superpower Depends on Money and Is Exposed by His Girlfriend

Netflix has officially unveiled new stills from its upcoming original series “Casher,” raising anticipation for a fresh take on the superhero genre—one firmly grounded in real-world struggles. Starring Lee Jun-ho, the drama introduces a hero unlike any other: a man whose superhuman strength depends entirely on how much money he has in his wallet.

In Casher, Lee Jun-ho plays Sang-woong, an ordinary salaryman weighed down by familiar pressures—wedding expenses, housing costs, and the constant anxiety of making ends meet. His life takes a shocking turn when he suddenly gains a mysterious ability: the more cash he carries, the stronger he becomes. While the premise may sound fantastical, the story leans heavily into realism, portraying the harsh irony of power that grows and fades with financial stability.

One newly released still captures Sang-woong lifting a car with sheer force, his plain appearance contrasting sharply with his newfound strength. Yet the drama quickly reminds viewers that heroism does not erase exhaustion.

Other images show him struggling through flames, hauling heavy sacks of rice, and collapsing from fatigue—scenes that emphasize how suffocating daily life remains, even for someone with superpowers.

Sang-woong’s girlfriend, Min-sook (played by Kim Hye-jun), becomes the first person to discover his secret. Rather than reacting with awe alone, she immediately recognizes the danger of such a power and joins him in devising practical ways to protect both his secret and his wallet. Their tense expressions in several stills hint at emotional conflict, financial anxiety, and the difficult choices that lie ahead.

Adding intrigue to the story are new supporting characters who expand the drama’s universe. Kim Byung-chul appears as “The Attorney,” while Kim Hyang-gi plays Bang Eun-mi—both members of the self-proclaimed Korean Association of Psychics and unexpected allies to Sang-woong. Their presence suggests a blend of humor, teamwork, and unconventional chemistry as they rally behind the reluctant hero.

On the opposing side stands Jonathan (Lee Chae-min), the arrogant youngest son of a shadowy group known as The Criminals, who target individuals with supernatural abilities.

His confrontations with Sang-woong promise intense tension and psychological warfare. Meanwhile, Joanna (Kang Han-na), the group’s powerful eldest daughter and successor, commands attention as she appears confidently surrounded by bodyguards—hinting at unpredictable twists and escalating stakes.

With its unique premise, emotional depth, and socially grounded storytelling, “Casher” positions itself as a new kind of superhero drama—one that asks what power really means in a world ruled by money.

Netflix’s Casher premieres globally on Friday, December 26, and is already shaping up to be one of the most distinctive and thought-provoking releases of the year.
