Police Recruitment Deadline Extended to Ensure Fair Representation Across States

The Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have announced a two-week extension for the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 Police Constables. The application deadline, originally set for January 25, 2026, will now close on February 8, 2026.

This update was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday by the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs at the Police Service Commission, Torty Njoku Kalu. The application portal, which opened on December 15, 2025, will remain open for all eligible Nigerians until the new closing date.

The extension comes after over 400,000 applications were received, with a noticeable disparity in state participation. States such as Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna have seen a higher volume of applications, while Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra have reported lower submission rates.

To promote more equitable representation from all regions of the country, the PSC and NPF have decided to extend the deadline. This move is aimed at ensuring fair representation for all states in the recruitment process, ensuring that no state is left underrepresented in the new constable intake.

The statement urges eligible Nigerians, especially those from states with fewer applications, to submit their applications through the official portal before the extended deadline. In addition, state governments, local councils, sociocultural organizations, religious bodies, community leaders, and other key stakeholders are encouraged to mobilize and raise awareness within their communities to boost applications.

The PSC and NPF remain committed to a fair, transparent, and inclusive recruitment process, providing equal opportunities for every qualified individual to serve in the Nigeria Police Force.
